Thank you and Good Luck !!

You may have noticed that last week there was no post on my blog, the first time since I started in October.  Unfortunately on the 25 th June my Thursday and Friday PA left the care company to go and explore a new life down in Cornwall. SG first joined the care company I use in February as a Domiciliary Carer, it wasn’t too long after that she also took on the role as my PA for two days a week. I won’t lie I was quite nervous at the beginning because I was having to spend so much time with someone who was so young.  I had requested that the person was closer in age to me (I felt we would have more in common). I didn’t anticipate that we would have plenty to talk about as SG was in fact closer in age to my daughter.     My posts on my blog soon became a weekly activity and I found that I was sharing much of my life with not only the readers of this blog but with all my carers due to the fact that when my Dom Carers came in, in the evening th...

Me, my mate MS and my mate Menopause

Two or three years ago it started, well I think it was the menopause. With most ladies a good indication will be the stopping of periods, however in my case due to my lack of mobility I was fitted with the marina coil 8 years ago, so periods were a thing of the past anyway. Last month my niece told me about a channel 4 programme that Davina McCall did called Sex, Myths and the Menopause, and said it was a must watch. Both hubby and I sat down and watched it together. In this blog post I am going to list some of the statistics, it’s frightening we still live in a society where we don’t tend to openly talk not only to our friends but to the family that we live with, although I am very lucky the Dean team have always talked about everything. It’s so important for all age groups to understand the menopause.              It is not just my mate MS but also my mate menopause, when I’m going off on one is it my personality, because of my MS...

Smart meter

Image
This morning we had our arranged visit for the installation of a smart meter. Now I realise that a lot of people are adverse to having one fitted maybe because it monitors every activity regarding fuel usage, but I cannot see that it is anywhere as intrusive as an Alexa or a mobile phone which manage to track your every movement, my poor carers get tracked by GPS by the app that my care company use, so for me a smart meter is the least of my worries.   Richard arrived nice and early at 8:30 (good job I had finished my breakfast), he wanted to get underway with his days work just in case my there were any problems and guess what, in 10 minutes BINGO! The smart meter needs to be attached to the wooden back plate, which he expected to find as that is what the electric meter should be attached to, unfortunately it wasn’t so after a quick look round the flat hubby found a piece of wood and Richard was able to drill the wood into the wall, and hey presto we were back ...
