Thank you Motability

Image
It’s a good job that I don’t get too stressy with hubby when he unfortunately reversed my Motability van into another car which thankfully was his own car. We don’t have a nice big driveway to manoeuvre out of and there seems to always be cars parked close by. The other day we started the manoeuvre which is about a six point turn, sadly on about the fifth turn he went back a little too far and made contact with his works car. I know if it was our own vehicle he would have sorted out the damage but as it is a Motability vehicle we can’t. Infact the damage was very slight.   We reported the damage to the Insurer and they decided it could be repaired at home due to the type of damage. The main concern was Motability not wanting to leave me without the use of my van. Two days later the repairers contacted us and booked in a date to repair which was only 10 days away. This morning bang on 9am the repair guy turned up. All he asked was that the van was turned around...

My Memories of the Queen

Image
It was dreadfully sad for me on the 8 th September 2022 when I heard the news of the Queen passing away, we had taken SMD home after we had spent a lovely five days together and switched on the news and heard the breaking news that the Queen had died. I couldn’t believe it especially as it had been only two days before that she had welcomed the new Prime Minister – Liz Truss at Balmoral.   Rolling back quite a few years one of my big memories was the Silver Jubilee, at school we were all given a Commemorative mug.   On the 8 th June 1977 a street party was held for the children. My Mum did take a couple of photos hence the X marks the spot on the picture of me and my Brother! I grew up in a household where my Mum loved the Queen, it seemed like she collected every book that was published about her. To be honest I think she felt she had an affinity with the Queen as they got married in the same year and also had their first born son in the same yea...

Merchant Navy Day- My Dad

Image
It’s been 3 years since the annual celebration for Merchant Navy Day has taken place in public. The day is celebrated on the closest Sunday to the 3 rd September. Hubby and I go to London Trinity Square and meet my Dad, sister and BIL there. Dad is now 97 years young, he joined The Prince of Wales Sea Training School back in October 1939.   During the Second World War 4,700 British flagged ships were sunk and 29,000 merchant seaman died. Of those my Dad was on eight ships in total, Four of which were torpedoed, one was sunk and another one scrapped all by January 1946.   As I’m sure you can all imagine,  how immensely proud my whole family are of him. To insure he is able to get to Trinity Square once a year is the least we can do. Now we have moved to Hayling Island the journey is a little longer and our day starts early but of course I am reliant on my carers to get me up and ready for the day. We left home at 09:20 and made our way into Lon...
