Recycle, Recycle, Recycle

Image
Well we have all heard of location, location, location which I have now done so now I can recycle, recycle, recycle. Our first project was to develop the sustainable garden, which I have already written a blog about and I can now look out into the garden and see three butterflies and know it is all working to plan and at the same time I am writing this post which is all about recycling. Having eaten my lunch which included a packet of baked crisps (50% less fat and a nod to my blog post on weight, food and MS) both my PA and I have kept the empty packets and added them to our collection. We found out that Walkers Crisps run a crisp packet recycling scheme –  walkers.co.uk/recycle and all that is needed is to add the postcode where you live and that will tell you where your closest collection point is eg those that live in Wendover, Buckinghamshire then the drop off point is Wendover Junior School or Aylesbury is Broughton Junior School. For those of us that live...

Paralympics and so much more

I am not a sport lover, I absolutely detested it when I was at school but I have found myself being attracted to any kind of sport where I can shout out support for England or Great Britain. This was first highlighted after I was diagnosed with MS and attended the Chilterns MS Centre. I had to undergo an assessment prior to being assigned a physiotherapist. In 1988 at the Paralympics in Seoul Wilma competed in the wheelchair archery and won gold!     It was because of this story that I started to pay attention to the Paralympics and took special note that if I put my mind t...

Weight, Food & MS

Like many people I have struggled with my weight as it has fluctuated so much over the years and then add my mate MS into the equation and it all changes again depending on the frequency of relapses. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessive with my weight but I do like to weigh myself every month. Unfortunately during lockdown my self control went out the window, I found myself getting really down when I couldn’t go out and we didn’t even have a garden I could sit in. The only way I seemed to be able to perk myself up was inside a chocolate bar. Chocolate became my new best friend. Yes I had access to all the nutrition information produced by the Chilterns MS Centre (I can call it that at the moment, but don’t get me started that’s an entirely separate blog) but that did not make me happy.   Back in 2017 at the beginning of the year I weighed an astonishing 12stone 4lbs (79kg) but just nine months later I was in hospital having had a major relapse, I was in there for just...
