Really...?
Is
it really right that a big corporate company like Next, when deciding to outsource
their customer service depart to India, decide to give all their employees an
English name?
I
was taken aback when raising a recent query I spoke to “Kevin”, who really didn’t
sound like a Kevin. I felt this guy’s identity had been taken away from him.
Why can he not be known by his birth name, okay I might have to ask him how to
spell it but does that matter? When he told me I could email him, he gave me
his email address which had an equally English surname.
Unfortunately the matter couldn’t be resolved
and I had to call back later in the day, and this time I spoke to “Mary”. The query
was all resolved, but I found myself getting increasingly angry that the
employees were not allowed to use their own names. Come on Next, sort your life
out, and treat all employees with respect.
Another
ick (a young persons word that I have learnt recently) of mine is when hubby
and I are walking out and we meet somebody in the street, and they look at him
and say “How is Julie?”. Thankfully hubby always replies “I don’t know, ask her,
she’s right here”. Like Kevin and Mary, I also feel I lose my identity at times
like this.
Feeling
really miffed, I find there is only one solution to life my mood, and thankfully
I had my PA who is an extension of me, and we are therefore able to do some
baking.
At
times like these I turn to Alexa and ask for a particular recipe, this time I
chose chocolate marble cake. Alexa will talk us through the whole recipe step
by step. So between the three of us we were able to bake the perfect chocolate
marble cake.
Just
a short one today, as it’s Good Friday, and we are off too my sisters for lunch,
out in the garden.
