Oh I do like to be beside the seaside
Wow, today is the 15th
of January and we have been living in Hayling Island for just under one month
and things are certainly starting to take shape. Alterations inside our flat are still being
tweaked but I’m really pleased to say that the decking and ramp are now
completed and looking really smart.
Which enables me on a day like today to sit outside and soak up the
sunshine. It might be just 2c but with
the sun being so low, actually it’s quite warm.
We also have two wild bird feeders in place and I’m pleased to say that it
only took 2 days before the birds starting visiting them.
I’m really pleased that the bird
feeders SMD and her boyfriend bought us for Christmas are regularly used by our
sparrow family, although the odd pigeon has also been known to park it’s bum in
the seed holder!
My nephew Chris comes and
spends regular time with me so that hubby can get on with jobs around the flat. Chris has been a godsend (as well as a
godson) whilst I’m waiting for a PA to be put in place but especially because
his expertise is in landscape gardening.
One thing I do know is the shed in the garden I really fancy turning it
into a beach hut. I also fancy having
plenty of wild flowers and when we moved in we seemed to have inherited loads
of pots! I’m all for recycling so I know
Chris will put them to good use, there was even a sink!
Not wanting to waste the
opportunity of the sunny weather the three of us thought it was time to go out
for a stroll. I still haven’t really
explored much of the island. Hubby and I
are lucky enough to live just 100 yards from the seafront. So with my Strava set to go off we went along
the promenade with Patch the dog for a couple of miles. Taking in the sea views, the Isle of Wight
and enjoying the sun. There is a
constant battle with repairing the sea defences, as one storm can push large
amounts of the stones over the promenade wall.
This is a large operation with many heavy vehicles used to shift tonnes
of stones. It makes me laugh as I can
see them from my lounge and in the distance they remind me of tonka toys.
We walked as far as the war
memorial before heading inland to visit the local fruit and veg store.
Three miles later we headed home
saying goodbye to Chris & Patch. The
sea air had blown all the cobwebs away and I could feel a snooze coming on, no sooner
had we got inside, the wheelchair tilted back I was a gonna.
Thank you for sharing a taste of home, missing seeing the sea and sun. Sending love to you all. Xx
