I’ll be back!
Oh
my days my emotions were rife on Monday when I attended my last official physiotherapy
session. I was really delighted when Karen my physio assistant told me that as
I would be coming back to Aylesbury every 6 or 7 weeks to have my haircut then she
would make me an appointment to have physiotherapy (especially a stand). That
is when the sniffling started, I would like to blame it on my menopause but in
reality that would be a lie. I ended my session on Monday with a stand unfortunately
it wasn’t for as long as I wanted as the girls seemed to want to bring me down,
I did have time though to have one last photo taken.
Back
in my wheelchair I went out from the gym and into the atrium and that is where
I was unexpectedly greeted by many of the CMSC staff ( all socially distanced
of course), Catherine our Chair of Trustees then gave a speech, oh my goodness
did the tears roll mainly because she managed to dense down the last 22 years
of activities into a 5 minute speech and I suddenly realised how much I and my
family (The Dean Team) had done and what fun we had doing it. Then the pièce of
résistance was the beautiful gift that was presented to me, to say I was overwhelmed
was an understatement. I was firmly told “you couldn’t have thought we would
let you go without a fuss”. Well strangely enough I did!
The
thing is yes if I do think about it The Dean Team have done a lot over the
years whether that be individually or as a group of 3 but that was because we
wanted to, not for the glory.
The
sad thing is we have not been able to meet at the MS Centre in the social
setting we are used to, we have had plenty of virtual social meetings including
quizzes, bingo and the art group, and of
course there have been virtual exercise therapy sessions but none of these can
replace face to face chatting drinking tea and eating cake! Now of course some
of us are having one to one physiotherapy but to keep us all safe there are
never more then 2 members having treatment at one time. Believe you me we are
so grateful for the effort the MS Centre has gone to ensure we are all safe.
Having
wiped my eyes dry hubby and I made our way to the Hospital as I had an appointment
to pick up my night splints which I have talked about in a previous post.
Today
has been another occasion to say goodbye but the important thing is that good
friends stay in touch.
PS:
you will see that in all the photos everyone is socially distanced (and in the photos
where people are wearing mask they are smiling underneath them). I have been
given permission by everyone photographed to use their picture on social media.
