Here we go again!
As I sit here and join the rest of the South East in what my daughter calls the 4 tier family, I look out of my patio doors and see the grey sky and pouring rain. I wish you could only hear the sound of the sea and the hooley that is blowing.
We have been on Hayling Island for 1 week & 2 days and
in true British style I’m going to firstly talk about the weather. It has been
a real mixture of sunshine and showers, no I lie, sunshine and lashings of
rain!
We arrived on the 12th December and it was a real family effort, SMD popped down on the 13th (we are in a support bubble together). Mainly to check out the flat but most importantly to carry out her duty of decorating the Christmas tree. The decorations on our tree are made up predominately of ones that have been sent to me from Denmark each Christmas🎄.
(SMD commented “you have no more room on
your tree for Danish decorations, do you think our Danish family will start
sending them to me instead?). Then there are two very special decorations, one
from my best friend in New Zealand (who now actually lives in Australia), and
the other from a good friend at Chilterns MS centre. As you will probably be
bored now we are in tier 4 try to spot the two decorations on my tree!
We had our first visitors last week. We were so pleased to see them.
I’m pleased to report that my carers turned up on Monday
morning right on time and are lovely. Although I’m a little concerned about how
many different carers I have during the week, especially through this current
lockdown. I am even more nervous now SMD called me this morning after finishing
what should have been a 12hr shift that had turned into a 17hr shift! Just a
reminder SMD is a paediatric nurse on a children’s ward in London, why did she
work so many hours last night?
Well they already have several cases of COVID-19 on the
ward.
After the phone call my nephew / godson came as he is kindly
temporarily taking on the role of my PA. Or should I say typing all my posts
for the blog and bearing in mind, so many people made me promise I would keep
up my blog once we moved, we have him to thank for the foreseeing posts.
The great thing about CEB being here for me means hubby can
carry on with the DIY projects. Today’s battle, plumbing in the kitchen sink.
We were given advent angels at the beginning of advent and they hang pride of place above our Christmas tree. It is frightening to believe that in 4 days time it will be Christmas. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the Christmas story.
I think for a a while my future posts will be all about everything
going on in our flat and how me and my mate MS cope with it all. I’m sure that
CEB and me will take the opportunity to go out and explore the island together.
Great to read your blog again and to see you settled in. Lovely to see your tree and heartwarming to know that a little bit of me is there too! x
