What a week!

Two weeks tomorrow we will make our move down to Hayling Island. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1i5XNtWc6JsRuQDRxHSiljlvWORcKoq65
Moving in the middle of a Pandemic has proved interesting – well that is the polite way of putting it. All the work that needs to be done on the flat to make it accessible has had to be done by my sister and brother in law due to the current restrictions made by the Government to keep us all safe. So it will be like our very own DIY SOS with the unveiling taking place when we move two weeks tomorrow.https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1vptvzfh8l-DBr3JrU_DM7uH2au3bLnae

I am under no illusion that times are hard but they are especially hard when it comes to Adult Social Care. I was told two months ago by my current provider (who fund my entire care package) that I did not need to tell them anything until I had a confirmed moving date, so a month ago I rang them to tell them I had a moving date of the 12th of December, I also contacted the Local Authority that I am moving to and that is where the fun began! It never occurred to me that the Authority I am moving to would say that for the first six weeks I was with them as a matter of curtesy the existing Authority will have to pick up the cost of my care. A game of ping pong then started and included the Legal Department from my existing Authority! The long and short of it is the Legal Department told my current providers that they are not obliged to be courteous and they wouldn’t be picking up the bill. Thankfully they also confirmed they would sort out the matter with my future Authority and told me not to worry (easier said than done). My husband and sister will cover my care the weekend we move so I am just keeping my fingers crossed that come the Monday morning there will be carers that come to get me washed, dressed and get me out of bed.

I have just the one question, has anyone experienced this themselves?

Apart from the issue of my care recent weeks have been exciting I receive updates from my sister on a daily basis, quite often in the form of a picture, together with video calls. This is tinged however with a bit of sadness as I have been visited by nurses who have come to say goodbye ðŸ˜”, once again due to the strange times we live in we can’t have a hug when saying goodbye.https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1VvDJ0ozg-j6A88tyVE07i3KpAjAw7S-8

I am fully prepared for the next two weeks to be busy but thankfully I have my PAs that will help with the packing whilst my husband is at work and today we even started writing the Christmas cards.

I am convinced this move is right for us. We can be close to my family and receive the added support we need whilst being close to the fresh sea air.https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=18NDjcIF6i5idpVC6DOCNZaqazAd_iDAi
We can’t wait to start the next chapter of our lives, whilst maintaining membership of the MS Centre and of course being able to keep in regular contact with my hubby’s family.
